When on Vacation in Bavaria, Southern Germany, Be Sure Not to Miss:

Neuschwanstein Castle
Built:  Late 1800's
Built by:  Mad King Ludwig of Bavaria
Inspired:  Sleeping Beauty's Castle at Disneyland and Disneyworld
Used by Nazis:  Store-house for Hitler's gold, paintings and other valuables
Location:  Fussen, Germany (south of Munich near the Austrian border)
Best Vantagepoint: Marienbruk (Marie's Bridge - a pedestrian suspension bridge in a nearby gorge)
Named For:  The Swan Knight from a Wagner opera
Status:  Uncompleted (only 14 rooms were finished and decorated before King Ludwig II of Bavaria was removed from power and died)
